Ford Motor Company, The American Automobile

The history of Western Automobile can be traced back to the mid nineteenth century. The development of this particular style of automobile started when a man by the name of John Pilsworth came up with the idea. It was during this period that several different auto manufacturers tried to develop and manufacture a vehicle that would be compatible with what Pilsworth had in mind. The end result was the development of what is known as the “Pilsworth” car. Today, this style of automobile is most commonly referred to as a “Western Car.”

The original Pilsworth car was made from the material: that was most commonly used for other types of automobiles at the time. This would include wood and metal. This style of automobile was highly successful and even had the support of many major companies. One of these companies was Ford Motors who actually purchased and then used some of the designs that were being done by the firm of Pilsworth.

Over time the “Pilsworth” became known as the Ford Motor Company: The success of the Ford Motor Company was primarily due to the fact that this particular style of automobile was easy to build. As a result of the ease in which this type of automobile was made it became the “cars of choice” for a number of consumers. These cars were also very popular and especially in larger cities where there were a lot of autos that were running on the road. The original Ford Model “T” was actually designed as a “Pilsworth Car” and was actually the first car produced in this particular style of car.

With the popularity of Western automobiles: quickly followed by the growth of interest in and demand for the more “modern” styles of automobile. With the rise in popularity of the “Pilsworth Cars” there was increased competition among manufacturers. This increased competition prompted the production of even more “modern” style of automobile. Just as the “Pilsworth Cars” benefited from increased production it also benefited from improvements in manufacturing technology and the addition of better materials to the automobile. One of the more significant improvements in this style of car was the use of aluminum in the construction of these vehicles. By using aluminum instead of steel many believed that these vehicles would possess even greater strength than their metal counterparts.

Unfortunately, all of the research: that was done on the aluminum based construction of these cars resulted in the deterioration of the life span of some of these vehicles. When the doors on these types of automobiles began to crack after only a few years of use, they often needed to be replaced. This was due to the deterioration of the glue that held the “seam” to the door of the automobile. With the addition of better materials to the manufacture of these types of automobiles the Western automobile industry once again experienced a downturn in sales and profits.

Despite all of the above information it still may not be too late: for Western Automobile Manufacturers to recover. It is estimated that there are over twenty percent of all American cars and light trucks that are still produced using the original Ford Motor Company styling. One could argue that most if not all American cars and light trucks that we now enjoy a ride on Ford Motor Company made parts. So there is hope for this type of automotive industry, although it may not be too soon for them to regain any of their previous glory. Many believe that the only way that this can happen is if these auto makers can learn to adapt to changes in today’s world and continue to produce quality products.
